A record 5th edition for the Fire & Ice Cocktail

On May 7, over 400 people gathered at Le 9e Montreal, in a festive and committed atmosphere, to celebrate the 5th edition of the FIUSMM Fire & Ice Cocktail. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, partners and donors, the event raised an historic net amount of $125,000, which will be entirely reinvested in mental health care, research and recovery.

An electrifying evening of hope

Organized by the Foundation and the Relève committee, the Fire & Ice Cocktail proved once again that it’s possible to combine pleasure and social impact. In a vibrant atmosphere, guests enjoyed a memorable evening while supporting an essential cause: mental health.

The Foundation team and the organizing committee would like to thank everyone for their support. Thanks to you, this 5th edition broke all records! Special thanks to Elaine Barsalou (National Bank) and Janie Bilodeau (iA Financial Group), honorary co-presidents of this year’s event, for their mobilization and invaluable contribution!

Highlighting forward-looking projects

This year’s Fire & Ice Cocktail spotlighted a flagship project: the relocation of the IUSMM Crisis Centre. The aim of this project is to provide a more accessible, safe and soothing environment for people experiencing a mental health crisis, in a space entirely redesigned to promote their recovery.

Guests also had the opportunity to talk to three of the Institute’s clinical research teams:

  • the Steam Lab, which develops innovative interventions for young adults;
  • the Signature Biobank, which collects biological and clinical data to advance research;
  • the CÉSAR project team, which explores the mental health of members of the LGBTQ+ community.

These meetings provided an opportunity to see first-hand the major scientific advances made possible by mental health research.
