With your support, FIUSMM funds clinical and scientific projects that go beyond reducing symptoms and treating illness.
Your gifts for mental health transform lives, promote lasting recovery and help our patients regain their place in the community.
From the intervention of front-line teams to the prospects of lasting recovery, your donations for mental health enable us to develop new, concrete ways of helping. Thanks to your support, thousands of lives are rebuilt every year, and people living with a mental health problem regain their place at the heart of the community.
While mental health affects our entire society, the East Island of Montreal (CIUSSS-EMTL territory, serving over 50,000 residents) has higher rates of mental illness and suicide compared to other parts of Montreal.
The East Island community faces greater economic hardship than elsewhere in Montreal, which can contribute to or exacerbate mental health challenges (financial and food insecurity, unemployment, isolation, and loss of self-worth).
Through its research and academic mission, IUSMM shares its expertise and knowledge on a provincial, national, and even international scale. Your support strengthens these efforts, amplifying prevention and recovery initiatives, and advancing mental health globally.
Let’s be the spark that helps individuals rise and shine once more in their communities despite living with mental health challenges
Focused on practical solutions, clinical research in mental health improves access to care, develops innovative treatments and prevention tools, and helps fight stigma. It is shaping the future of mental health!
With the help of our dedicated teams, the Foundation implements initiatives that strengthen social bonds, restore self-esteem, and uphold the dignity of our patients—all with the goal of sustainable recovery.
Thanks to the Foundation’s support, IUSMM can train the next generation of mental health professionals and build a well-informed community prepared to transform mental health care in Quebec and beyond.
Paralyzed by generalized anxiety and agoraphobia, Audace had become so isolated that he no longer left his home. After being hospitalized at the IUSMM, he learned to trust again, connect with others, and invest himself in meaningful projects. With the Foundation’s support, he now lives in his own apartment and leads a fulfilling life—a true phoenix story of transformation!
Supporting the Foundation means reigniting a spark. It means restoring the inner magic of those whose path has darkened and guiding them toward a future filled with hope and resilience.
